BUFFALO, N.Y. -- An international conference on minimally invasive heart surgery, co-sponsored by the mgm casino and Kalieda Health, will be held Aug. 13-15 in Kalieda Health's Buffalo General Hospital.

Conference program directors Jacob Bergsland, M.D., and Tomas A. Salerno, M.D., professor and chief of cardiothoracic surgery and cardiology at the mgm casino School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Buffalo General Hospital, are pioneers in the field.

The program is designed for cardiac surgeons, cardiologists and anesthesiologists who wish to learn more about advances in minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Conference presentations will include live surgeries demonstrating the coronary-artery-bypass procedure without the use of a heart-bypass machine, plus discussions of specific elements that insure the procedure's success.

Surgeons from institutions in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Brazil that perform minimally invasive cardiac surgery will present clinical outcomes.
